James Morgan
James Morgan has been designing the structures where people live and work since 1983, when he graduated from Plymouth Polytechnic School of Architecture in Plymouth, England. He spent nine years working with several architectural firms in England and elsewhere before settling in North Carolina in 1991. After a year in Chatham County he moved his practice to downtown Carrboro, NC which is where you can find him most every day.
When he's not designing houses, James helps promote cultural and economic development in downtown Carrboro. He has served six years on the Town of Carrboro Downtown Development Commission, and he's a three-term member of the Board of Directors of Weaver Street Market, a co-op grocery that is also a hub of arts and community activity in Carrboro.
James founded The Public Gallery of Carrboro and continues to develop Art on Weaver, the award-winning sculpture exhibit which brings outdoor sculpture to the public in downtown Carrboro.
